Uncertainty is growing as the government shutdown threatens health care services. There are real fears that delays in care could greatly impact our most vulnerable populations. Advertisement

Dr. Jennifer Avegno, the director of New Orleans Health Department tells us Medicare is the largest insurance provider for older residents. Many of them rely on it for life-saving care.

Avegno warned that delays could be coming.

"For there to be any disruptions in payments...That will definitely translate into delays in care. Our elderly residents... They depend on it. From doctors visits to paying for prescriptions.. To hospitalizations."
