JACKSONVILLE, N.C. ( WITN /Gray News) - A North Carolina man is accused of shooting and killing a Marine who was riding a motorcycle in what deputies believe was a road rage incident.
James Wells, 43, is charged with second-degree murder for allegedly killing Dylan Rasmussen, a 31-year-old Marine and father of two, in a road rage incident . The suspect appeared in court Monday, where the district court judge increased his bond to $500,000.
Onslow County deputies say Wells was driving on Burgaw Highway around 1:30 p.m. Sunday when he stopped and argued with Rasmussen, who was riding a motorcycle. During the argument, Wells pulled out a gun and shot Rasmussen once in the chest, according to warrants.
