Kadence’s mom says wrestling became a turning point for her daughter, helping her find focus and discipline.

“She got into wrestling to try to keep her in line and out of trouble and focused, and then ended up loving it,” Watkins said. “She went to state and wanted to go to college for wrestling.”

Her childhood friend, Lyllian Babb, says Kadence’s energy was unmatched.

“She always made people laugh,” Babb said. “She always pushed herself and made sure she wasn’t settling for less.”

A Tragic Accident

Police found Kadence and her friend Jacob inside a gray Dodge Charger in October 2023.
