BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - Work has begun on rebuilding Veterans Avenue Pier, nearly two decades after it was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.

The new pier in Biloxi will extend approximately 360 feet from the shore.

Construction crews will also build a gazebo at the end of the pier for families and visitors to enjoy.

Fair Tide Marine and Construction has been contracted to complete the project.

Officials estimate the work will take around three months to finish.
