OXFORD, Miss. (WMC) - A former employee at the University of Mississippi is suing the University Chancellor after her firing following her re-sharing a social media post with ‘insensitive comments’ about Charlie Kirk’s death .

According to court documents, Lauren Stokes was an administrative assistant at the University of Mississippi. On September 10, 2025, after right-wing political activist, Charlie Kirk was killed, Stokes reposted a critical opinion about him on her private Instagram account. She later deleted it and apologized, but the next day, the University fired her.

The University’s Chancellor, Glenn Boyce issued a press release saying Stokes’s comments were “hurtful, insensitive” and went against the university’s values.
