MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A former administrator from the University of Mississippi is suing the chancellor of the university after being fired for speech she reposted on her private social media account.
In the lawsuit, Lauren Stokes says she reposted someone else's opinion of Charlie Kirk on her private Instagram account. Once she learned the repost offended someone who saw it, she removed it and issued a personal apology.
Stokes says she was being attacked online the next day and sought guidance from the human resource office, which advised her to ask the Oxford Police Department to monitor her restaurant, which was outside of campus.
The same day, the university placed Stokes on paid administrative leave "in her best interest", the lawsuit said.
