Upcountry Fiber Foundation raised $133,100 at its charity golf tournament in September.
The foundation serves as the charitable arm of Upcountry Fiber, giving back to nonprofit organizations in Upstate South Carolina. Upcountry Fiber, an internet service provider, was established in 2020 as a partnership between Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative and West Carolina.
Upcountry Fiber Foundation provides funding to philanthropic organizations focused on education, youth, culture, arts and health and human services. Jim Lovinggood, president and CEO of Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative, said the foundation has been able to provide nearly $160,000 to 33 nonprofit grant applicants since its inception in 2022.
