LATHAM, N.Y. (NEWS10/WWTI) -- New York State will be investing $800 million into statewide road resurfacing projects in 2026, Governor Kathy Hochul announced on Wednesday. The funding reportedly represents the largest New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) paving investment in history.

NYSDOT will be leveraging the historic investment from the current state budget. The funding comes on top of the department's initial, more-than-$32-billion Capital Plan.

According to the governor, the additional money will facilitate 185 paving projects across the state. The almost 2,150 lane miles of resurfaced roads will be in addition to the paving initiatives already scheduled in NYSDOT's core programs, leading to a total of over 250 pavement renewal projects and more than 4,000 lane mil
