Wearing heeled boots is a brave decision – especially in the depths of winter when a rogue patch of ice or drain cover could send you to A&E. Wearing a wedge boot, however, is more a sensible option than your average stilettoed style.
The word “wedge” might summon images of cork and canvas styles beloved by royals, or nostalgic iterations worn by celebrities in the Noughties, but a wedge boot is a very different entity to a grass-friendly wedding-guest shoe. Adding a wedge to a boot can create a directional silhouette – Dries Van Noten’s sock-fit ankle booties , wrapped in soft Italian leather with a bold angular heel, are testament to this. So too are Khaite’s textured-leather Apollos and Isabel Marant’s slouchy, cowboy-esque knee-highs .
