Bhubaneswar: A well-marked low-pressure area over the southwest Bay of Bengal has moved nearly northwestwards across north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and south Andhra Pradesh coasts. As of 5:30 pm on Wednesday, the system is currently located over north coastal Tamil Nadu and its neighborhood.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the low-pressure system is expected to move west-northwestwards across north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh over the next 24 hours. It is likely to weaken into a low-pressure area during this period.
The system has already brought heavy rainfall to several parts of Tamil Nadu, with the IMD issuing orange and red alerts for various districts. The weather agency has also advised fishermen to stay ashore due to strong winds and rough seas. Ta
