The first round of the Class 1 District 10 volleyball tournament began Tuesday night at the New Heights Athletic Complex. Number 2-seed New Heights Christian Academy and No. 3-seed Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School rolled to 3-0 sweeps over their opposition.

Their wins set up a rivalry match in the district semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Fans may have heard of in-state or cross-border or even cross-town rivalries. Well, this is a down-the-road rivalry as in just down Newman Road in Joplin. ×
