SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Avera hospitals across the state are participating in Mission: Lifeline Stroke, a statewide initiative from the American Heart Association (AHA).
According to the AHA, this mission focuses on strengthening stroke care across South Dakota.
The initiative will reportedly support both rural and urban hospitals, assisting in addressing gaps in the delivery of stroke care.
“This will be especially impactful in rural South Dakota. Stroke treatment is time-sensitive, so getting patients the proper treatment faster is crucial,” said Joani Guzman, Program Consultant for the Mission: Lifeline Stroke South Dakota initiative. “So many South Dakotans live in rural areas where access to neurologists is limited to telemedicine.
