VANDERBURGH COUNTY, Ind. (WEVV) — A federal lawsuit has been filed after the death of an inmate at the Vanderburgh County Jail.
The lawsuit was filed last week against the sheriff's office, the sheriff, Quality Correctional Care, and others, by the Estate of 61-year-old Bobby J. Norman.
According to the lawsuit, Norman passed away from chest pains and hypertensive atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, after spending 13 days in jail in the fall of 2023.
The lawsuit claims Norman filled out paperwork and informed staff at the jail that he needed medication to keep his blood pressure under control. It also says Norman's daughter called the jail several times during the first few days of his detention, complaining about her father not receiving the medications he needed. Family members al
