Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will not play in Monday night's game against the Kansas City Chiefs , a source told ESPN's John Keim and Jeremy Fowler.

Daniels is suffering from a low-grade right hamstring strain, a source told ESPN. It is not considered a long-term injury, but the Commanders don't want him to tweak it, a source said.

Marcus Mariota will start against the Chiefs.

Daniels injured his right hamstring with 11:53 remaining in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys . Blitzing linebacker Shemar James had a free path to the QB, causing Daniels to stop from throwing a slant pass. Daniels tried to pull the ball down, but James poked it away for a fumble. As Daniels hit the ground he reached for his hamstring.
