The Madras High Court on Wednesday asked the police why the disproportionate assets case related to Tamil Nadu Water Resources Minister Duraimurugan was transferred to the Chennai Special Court from a Vellore court.
According to The Indian Express , during the hearing Duraimurugan's counsel argued that the Supreme Court had already stayed the transfer of the case to Chennai. Later on, the court sought detailed explanation from authorities.
A month ago, a petition was filed by DMK’s Duraimurugan challenging the 2019 Government Order under which the case was transferred from the Special Court in Vellore to Chennai. He had stated that a total of 72 witnesses are linked to the case and that a trial in Chennai might further delay proceedings.
