Tension erupted at Ramraibari High School in Jolaibari on Wednesday after police allegedly lathi-charged students who were staging a protest demanding the withdrawal of transfer orders for two of their teachers. According to local sources, the students had initially held a road blockade on Tuesday over the same issue and resumed their agitation today by locking the school gates and continuing their protest inside the premises.

Police personnel reportedly arrived at the spot and asked the students to withdraw their agitation. However, when the students refused to back down, officers from Baikhora Police Station, allegedly on the instruction of Officer-in-Charge Bishnu Chandra Das, resorted to force to disperse the protesters.
