NEW YORK, N.Y.— The Giants’ epic collapse against the Denver Broncos on Sunday was the result of breakdowns in all phases of the game, but perhaps most costly were kicker Jude McAtamney’s two missed extra points. As a result, the team released the former Rutgers player on Tuesday.
Stepping in for injured veteran Graham Gano, McAtamney made his debut against the Los Angeles Chargers, showing promise by converting both of his FG attempts and helping the Giants secure their first win of the season.
But things quickly unraveled from there. McAtamney soon missed a PAT against the Eagles— a misstep that was largely overlooked as Big Blue celebrated their biggest win of the season against a division rival. In hindsight, though, it may have been a sign of what was to come against Denver.
