The Beautiful Joe Heritage Society has hit its fundraising goal of $130,000 for an accessible pedestrian bridge connecting Legion Park and Beautiful Joe Park in Meaford.

When constructed, the low-maintenance bridge will span the Bighead River between the two parks, making the shaded trails and pavilion at 162 Edwin Street accessible for all to enjoy.

Currently, Beautiful Joe Park is only accessible by a steeply sloped laneway that exists off Edwin Street, and a steep, stepped, pedestrian trailhead off Victoria Crescent.

The vision for the future is to relocate additional parking to the Legion Park Side, utilizing the new bridge to access Beautiful Joe Park. Increasing parking and creating turnarounds for large vehicles will make the park a more suitable site for scho
