Bluewater Outdoor Education Centre’s annual fundraising dinner will feature a local chef’s meal using local ingredients and a speaker whose life’s work to make spaces accessible stemmed from an accident which left her wheelchair-bound.

Every year, more than 10,000 people visit the OEC facilities northwest of Wiarton, among them are close to 2,000 kids. The kids and some parents sleep in the dorms, eat together in the dining hall, and learn and have fun in classrooms, the bank barn, fields and bush.

The centre, on 370 acres of countryside near Boat Lake, has been a place to make memories for decades now.

The centre is run with money raised by the Bluewater Education Foundation in partnership with Bluewater District School Board, which pays the OEC’s teachers.
