LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) is offering up to $1.5 million in Fisheries Habitat Grants to local, state, federal, and tribal governments, as well as nonprofit groups for conservation and dam removal projects.
The MDNR reports that this funding is available for projects that "improve Michigan’s fisheries and aquatic resources, such as fish habitat conservation, dam removal and repair, and resource assessment studies."
Fisheries Habitat Grants are available through an open, competitive process. Preposals will be accepted through November 19.
Project proposals must fall under aquatic habitat conservation or dam management to be considered for grants.
