A 31-year-old York City police officer who was charged last month for using a Wiffle ball bat to “discipline” his daughter in Dauphin County was fired from his job this week.

Stephen Marte, of Hummelstown, was charged with simple assault and endangering the welfare of children after he was arrested Sept. 25 for assaulting his child, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Pennsylvania State Police. The affidavit did not provide the girl’s age other than to say she was a juvenile.
