Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D–San Francisco) plans to make an announcement about her potential reelection plans or retirement next month, according to a report from Politico.

Pelosi, 85, has served in Congress since 1987.

What we’re watching: According to the report, Pelosi will announce her future plans after the Nov. 4 special election on Proposition 50 takes place. • If she decides to retire, Politico reported that Pelosi could push for San Francisco Supervisor Connie Chan to succeed her. • Chan and Pelosi appeared together at the No Kings protest in downtown San Francisco last weekend, and Pelosi endorsed Chan in her reelection fight last year.
