MADERA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A man was arrested in Madera after a young girl woke up to find him in her room, the Madera Police Department announced Wednesday.

Police reported around 3 a.m. early Saturday morning, they received a 911 call from a young girl who said an unknown man was inside her home.

Responding officers arrived to find a man fleeing on foot from the back of the home, and after a quick chase, he was apprehended.

Police identified him as a 43-year-old Hilario Morales-Santiago of Madera.

Investigators report Morales-Santiago unlawfully entered the home and allegedly attempted to commit a sexual act on the young girl. She woke up, immediately yelling for him to leave and called 911.

Police say Morales-Santiago was booked into the Madera County Jail on two felony charges.
