COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A man died Tuesday night some time after being tased by a Cobb County Police Department officer, which the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said occurred as the officer was trying to restrain the man from walking into traffic.
According to the GBI, the Cobb officer responded to a call of a hit-and-run incident a little after 6 p.m. and encountered Sheats walking down the roadway.
The GBI says Sheats told the officer he had been shot, but the officer didn't see any visible injuries.
"The officer asked Sheats to get into his patrol car for safety. Sheats refused and started walking into traffic, at one point attempting to enter a passing vehicle," a GBI statement said. "The responding officer tased Sheats to gain control and prevent him from running into oncoming traff
