Group 7 has become the new “it girl” on TikTok.
The phenomenon began in mid-October, when singer Sophia James shared a series of videos via TikTok. In the first clip, James, 26, said she recently received a parking ticket while dancing and singing to her track “So Unfair.”
James began posting more videos (initially still about her parking ticket) in the hopes of users hearing her music. By the fourth video, James labeled the clips — and the fans — into groups and shifted the content to be more about the idea of being in a certain group.
“If you’re seeing this you are in group 4,” text read over video No. 4. “I am posting a bunch of videos and seeing which ones reach the most viewers. This is the fourth post of the batch so you are group 4.”
James shared three more videos that night, un
