On Nov. 4, as a part of several local off-cycle elections, Washtenaw County voters will be asked to approve or deny a millage that would increase property taxes to maintain and expand career and technical education programs in the county. Career Technical Education programs, such as those offered at Washtenaw Intermediate School District , which proposed the millage, aim to integrate traditional academic learning with career-specific courses to help prepare students for jobs. While CTE programs are often associated with trade programs, such as automotive technology, WISD’s programs also cover areas including health care, computer science and aviation.
