COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A man is now facing charges after police said he allegedly hit a pedestrian and drove away last month.

The Columbia Police Department said Wednesday, 19-year-old Kian Mitchum was arrested and charged with hit and run, failure to obey a traffic control device, as well as failure to give information and render aid.

CPD said the crash happened on Sept. 29 at the intersection of Harden and Laurel streets. According to police, Mitchum allegedly hit a pedestrian who had the right of way before he drove away from the scene.

The victim has since been treated and released from a hospital, but does have a lingering injury, police said.

Records show Mitchum was booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on Wednesday.
