The Subiaco owner of Below & Above Wines has shared the flavourful journey of starting a wine business in WA, as she and her husband return to UnWined Subiaco this weekend.

Right years ago Evdokia (Kia) Klepec and her husband John decided to try their hand at WA’s growing wine industry and they are now happily at the top of their game, producing cool-climate wines and premium black winter truffles across two neighbouring properties in WA’s Southern Forests region.

Determined to perfect just three particular styles, the couple’s winemaking journey has been filled with lessons, setbacks and success.

Yet, for Mrs Klepec, it’s a path she says she wouldn’t change for the world.

“We fell in love with the Pemberton region. We like to drink cool climate wines, and we love Pinot and truffles,”
