It was hoped that USATF’s new 2026 Tour would revolutionize track and field in the United States. Bringing some order to a sport that has been dispersed across calendars and time zones for years with little coordination or momentum was a logical idea. The goal was to bring people together, get everyone on the same page, and provide events with the structure and support they’ve been lacking from regular schedules and media attention, to appropriate financial and medical support. It sounded great as we could see stronger competitions, increased visibility for athletes, and a professional system. But not everyone has been convinced yet of this.
