LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - If you have a peanut allergy, you know how serious it can be.
There is some good news, however. A new approach to help prevent peanut allergies in kids appears to be working.
New research found that feeding peanut products to babies has helped about 60,000 kids grow up without developing peanut allergies.
“If you just shop for a day and go and actually look at the labels and see how many things say ‘this could be processed in a facility that works with peanuts,’ it’s a lot of things,” said Dr. Elizabeth Hawse, a pediatrician with Commonwealth Pediatrics. “It can cause a lot of anxiety in those kids.”
