ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (Gray News) – A jury awarded over $11.3 million to a Florida woman who fell in a Target parking lot and broke her ankle.

The 44-year-old woman fell at a Target store in Winter Garden, Florida, in December 2019. The jury awarded the money on Friday.

According to WFTV , the woman turned down a pre-trial settlement of $250,000 before securing the much-larger verdict payment.

The outlet reports that the woman was carrying her daughter and weaving through parked cars to dodge holiday traffic and puddles.

The woman reportedly didn’t see a landscaping island, where the curb caused a “notable and abrupt change in elevation.”
