SARASOTA, Fla. ( WWSB ) - In a two-hour period Wednesday morning, 47 drivers were pulled over for speeding on the Ringing Causeway Bridge, Sarasota police said.

Of those stops, three citations were for speed more than 30 mph above the posted speed limit of 35 mph, the Sarasota Police Department told ABC7. Those drivers have an automatic court date.

One of the speeders Wednesday was clocked at 67 mph.

That’s not even close to the fastest driver police have seen on the Ringling Causeway. In late September, a vehicle was clocked at 88 mph .

“Our officers, in collaboration with the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office ... have already pulled over a few drivers who seemed to think the bridge is a racetrack. Spoiler: it’s not,” the department said on social media.
