INDIANAPOLIS — Takuma Sato was among four drivers testing various potential changes for the 2026 IndyCar season.

The two-day session which wrapped up Wednesday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway begged the question if the 48-year-old would return to the Indy 500 field as a one-off entrant once again. Tests included the repave in Turn 2 of the IMS oval, which holds the famed 500.

Sato’s test with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing can be seen as good news on whether the two-time 500 winner will be back with the team he won the race with back in 2020.
