PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A group of Oregon lawmakers is urging immigration officials to release a Portland woman from custody after proceedings to remove her from the United States were dismissed.

On Wednesday, Senators Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Jeff Merkley (D-OR), along with Congresswomen Maxine Dexter (OR-03) and Suzanne Bonamici (OR-01) sent a letter to Immigration and Customs Enforcement Seattle Field Officer Cammilla Wamsley.

The letter calls for the release of Kenia Jackeline "Jackie" Merlos – a Portland mother and business owner who remains in ICE custody despite an immigration judge clearing her case, according to the lawmakers.
