MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A swearing-in ceremony is being held Wednesday for Madison’s new police chief, John Patterson.
City of Madison officials will be joined by Madison community members for the event at the city’s Black Business Hub.
The police department noted Patterson has been on the Madison force for 27 years, and has served in every district in the city.
He has a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and a criminal justice certificate from University of Wisconsin- Madison. He also has a master’s degree from Edgewood College.
Chief Patterson previously told WMTV 15 News that his priority is what he calls the three pillars of the job- the focus on people, culture, and service to the community, which he puts front and center.
