EUGENE, Ore. - The Lane County Sheriff’s Office confirmed on Wednesday that two men, suspected of being involved in a burglary ring targeting Asian-American community members in Eugene, were detained by ICE last week after being released from the Lane County Jail.

LCSO officials said that the incident involved plain-clothed federal officers capturing the men as they exited the jail. Sgt. Tim Wallace released an internal memo detailing the event, which was filmed by at least one witness, authorities said. Sheriff's officials said that the memo explains that, on Oct. 15, a plain-clothed officer and another agent wearing a ballistic vest entered the jail lobby when an attorney opened the door.
