EUGENE, Ore. – After years of being targeted by an alleged crime ring, the Asian American Council of Oregon is having a public safety forum for its community members.
“We really want to bring awareness to our community that these burglaries are targeting Asians in the area,” Jensina Hawkins, law enforcement liaison of the Asian American Council of Oregon, said. “We want to provide support and resources and also provide that visibility to law enforcement and the public officials, so that they're aware of what's going on and how serious this is.”
Since 2023, Eugene police said there’s been more than 22 burglaries that have targeted Asian American community members.
