STONEWALL, La. – Stonewall folks, you're warned.

The compactor site, also known as “the dump,” will be closed – during and after Christmas. That’s because the DeSoto Parish Police Jury’s Administrative Committee earlier this month chose not to reverse a plan giving the solid waste workers and compactor site operators a three-day paid holiday that includes Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, which are traditional, but also tacks on Dec. 26 since it falls on a Friday.

On Oct. 6, Administrator Michael Norton asked police jurors to revisit their earlier decision to allow for the sites to be open on Dec. 26, with the acknowledgement of an “enormous amount of garbage” that will be generated.
