TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Friends of a recent shooting victim have created a memorial on Wabash Avenue, but they're calling the situation a tragic accident.

Jacqueline Swaim said she was with a group of friends, including Skyleen Ross, after hanging out at a local nightclub. Swaim said Ross was about a block behind her, next to Javon Wilson, when she heard a gunshot.

"I heard it go off and something just didn't feel right, so I turned around and I see my sister on the ground with Destiny on top of her trying to stop the bleeding", Swaim said.

Swaim said Wilson was trying to unload the firearm and accidentally fired and hit Ross, but Swaim said she's not using the word blame.
