TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — PetSmart National Adoption Week is an event to help local shelters and rescue groups find forever homes for their animals.

This event started this week and will be going on until October 26 at PetSmart in Terre Haute on U.S. 41. We spoke with the Sullivan Humane Society, who will be participating in this event on Saturday and Sunday. They will have dogs and cats up for adoption at half price, ranging from $40 to $70.

Director Tina Barker says this event is important because most shelters and rescues are over capacity.

“Every dog that gets adopted there’s another dog, or two, or even more than that waiting to take their place. All the shelters and rescues are busting at the seams, so this is the time to adopt.”
