Police have a suspect, now they need to find the body of an elderly Edmonton widow, missing for 35 years.

They believe Ruth Clarke, 83, was killed and thrown down an abandoned rural well somewhere north of St. Albert in November 1990.

Now they have to find the well.

On Wednesday, family members pleaded for members of the public for new information that could help finally solve the decades-old homicide.

New information links the widow, a former nurse and farmer, to a sad end at the bottom of a homestead well, EPS Staff Sgt. Kevin Harrison told media.

“There was a suspect in the original investigation, and we do believe we know who killed Ruth. Unfortunately, because criminal charges have not been laid, we cannot release that name to the public,” Harrison said.
