HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- As children enter the foster care system, the first few days can be stressful.
The Isaiah 117 House aims to ease that transition.
Isaiah 117 House, a nonprofit based out of northeast Tennessee, provides a bed, clothes and comfort for children awaiting a placement in foster care, working in connection with social services.
Experts said that often, after a foster kid is removed from their home, there might not be a place for that child to go.
"Imagine the worst day of your life and you're going to sleep in an office floor," expansion coordinator Shanoah Hewitt said. "Or in a cubicle area with people working all around you."
Hewitt has a personal connection to the foster care system, having fostered and later adopted two boys.
