BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - Fall is all around: from sports to Halloween and to the fall colors.

To see the best fall colors, you need a few key forecast points.

First, you need the cool, crisp nights and warm sunny fall days. If it’s too warm or cloudy, the colors will be muted.

And we need moisture. If it is a drought year, the colors will be delayed, but if there is enough moisture, the colors will change right on track.

For October, we have had the moisture. Most of the area has had over an inch more than normal rainfall.

We have also had days with sunshine and the right temperatures. Even though our average temperatures have been above normal, they have had the warm afternoons and crisp, cool nights.

North Dakota tourism released a list of the best places to view the fall colors .
