GONZALES, La. (WAFB) - The city of Gonzales will donate two ambulances to St. Tammany Fire District #3 after purchasing new emergency vehicles.

The Gonzales Fire Department took delivery of two new ambulances in recent months, with one arriving in August and the second delivered a couple of weeks ago. The new vehicles mark the first ambulances the department has received since 2008.

“We just took delivery in the last couple of months of two new ambulances,” said Fire Chief Preston Landry.

The ambulances were funded through the city’s capital outlay budget and include new safety features.

“They’re going to cost us a whole bunch less in maintenance since they’re new,” Landry said. “The biggest feature is a power load stretcher system. So to reduce back injuries and such on our medics whe
