The 31-year-old man accused of seriously wounding former Fall River Mayor Will Flanagan in a stabbing is now facing felony charges in connection with the incident, court records show.

Corree Gonzales is charged with armed assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, causing serious bodily injury in connection with the incident Monday night, Fall River District Court records show. He has yet to be arraigned on those charges.

Gonzales appeared in court on Tuesday on four misdemeanor counts of assault and battery on a police officer. Police say Gonzales assaulted officers trying to detain him. A judge ordered a mental health evaluation for him, the results of which were not immediately clear Wednesday.
