SANTA FE, N.M. —

Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham announced today that she has named a new executive director for the New Mexico Office of African American Affairs.

Gene Grant served as an executive host and editorial leader of "New Mexico In Focus" on New Mexico PBS from 2005-2023. It was there that he moderated the state's public affairs program and produced recurring specials on African American affairs. Most recently, he served as chief program and policy officer at Animal Protection New Mexico.

He also brings nearly two decades of experience in statewide public affairs dialogue, cultural leadership and community advocacy.
