One person was killed Wednesday in a multi-vehicle crash in Commerce, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The wreck occurred about 12:55 p.m. on the southbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway near Washington Boulevard, according to the CHP.

One vehicle was reported to have overturned, though the CHP did not immediately confirm that detail.

All southbound lanes were initially closed, but three of five were reopened as a SigAlert remained in effect.
