JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WLOX) - A fleet of motorcycles and patrol vehicles escorted fallen Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy Joshua Brashears to his final resting place Wednesday.

Law enforcement officers from across Mississippi surrounded Brashears’ family as they mourned the sudden loss of this father of two at Heritage Funeral Home in Escatawpa. Among the dozens of motorcycles that lead the procession, there were two deputies from South Carolina, where Brashears worked for 13 years.

“A lot of those years he spent working alongside me in various units at the sheriff’s office,” said Sgt. Kevin Burnett, who drove down with another deputy from Greenville County. “We knew him to be a very outstanding law enforcement officer.”
