BEAUMONT, Texas — The Pitzer Family Education Foundation says it’s in desperate need of funding to continue its programs that have helped former inmates rebuild their lives through job training.

Founded in 2012 by former prison warden Percy Pitzer and his wife, Sue, the foundation’s mission is to break the cycle of incarceration by providing educational opportunities to former inmates and their children. For more than a decade, the nonprofit has partnered with the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), a national trade group representing the construction industry, to offer skills training and employment opportunities.

But that partnership came to an end this week due to a lack of outside financial support.
