Victoria’s BC SPCA branch is fighting to save the eyesight of a litter of kittens.
Eight nine-week-old kittens were surrendered from a property in Victoria in September after their owner became overwhelmed by the number of animals in their care.
While all the kittens were infected with the feline herpesvirus and coccidia parasite, the condition of one named Lucy was noted as the most severe.
“One of Lucy’s eyes was seriously impacted by the virus,” said Emma Hamill, manager of the BC SPCA Victoria animal centre, in a news release. “There was concern that if the treatment wasn’t successful, she may require surgery to remove the eye.”
Thankfully, Hamill says Lucy’s eye appears to be responding to treatment, with the vet “happy with her progress and at this time.”
